As a Sourcing Manager, you will be responsible for handling the company's end-to-end sourcing operations. The successful candidate will be able to appraise and improve our sourcing activities by analyzing the company's spending, supplying partnerships, and new possibilities.
Essential Job Functions:
- Ensure appropriate/workable Tamp;A (time and action) and WIP (work in progress) tools are in place for a smooth sourcing timeline
- Understand suppliers’ capabilities, capacity, and performance. Plan factory visits to monitor production and assess factory capacity and capabilities
- Use an in-depth understanding of component pricing to provide cost-saving opportunities
- Negotiate the best prices with suppliers
- Analyze and report on supplier-related performance data
- Continuously develop product and market knowledge
Specific Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage Tamp;A, track projects for timely sourcing, and proactively identify potential product/production issues
- Identify and resolve product spec issues upfront. Distribute product spec to designated suppliers
- Partner with cross-functional teams as needed to achieve quality, price, and delivery requirements
- Ensure suppliers' quotations and samples are completed within the required timelines
- Ensure order placement and execution meet expectations on capability, capacity, quality, and delivery performance
- Maintain performance data of each supplier on a regular basis and determine actions to address any concerns
- Travel to factories and provide feedback on factories/suppliers' capacity and technical abilities to support the market requirements
- Compile relevant business reports and recaps to better understand and manage the business
- Provide insight on product reengineering opportunities and unlock valuable solutions to current products that improve product and lower cost
- Coordinate and validate any new potential factories and vendors added to the vendor matrix
- Assume additional responsibilities and perform special projects as needed or directed
Requirements
- Previous 8-12 years of experience in direct sourcing at a global sourcing office or trading company
- Knowledge of suppliers and factories. Able to evaluate suppliers' competence and capability
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of both hardline and softline construction and production capability. Wide range of knowledge of different products
- Able to identify creative alternative solutions to solve problems
- Highly motivated with a high sense of urgency, good interpersonal skills, patience, analytical skills, proactivity, and the ability to take ownership
- Able to manage multiple projects/tasks in an organized manner to meet on-time objectives
- Team player with the ability to work with associates from different cultures
- Good negotiation skills in working with suppliers on both product and price
- Excellent command of English and the local language
