The Design Director Role
Our Shanghai studio is growing with new projects, clients and into new categories.
The Design Director role is one of leadership. You will be leading a team of talented designers and creating direction for a number of world famous and local brands. Having already established yourself as a great designer, your role is now one of leading a team to produce outstanding, charismatic designs.
You'll be developing a partnership mentality with clients in order to build trust and long term relationships. Using your design knowledge and expertise, you'll inspire confidence to clients, in line with the brand, and be able to identify new creative opportunities. You'll also be adept at allocating resource within the team, encouraging collaborative ways of working through cross departmental communication.
In the studio, you'll be responsible for the leading the creative direction of a number of brands, leading the team through evaluating and editing creative work to reach the best possible outcomes. You'll be able to identify development areas and skills gaps within the team, supporting them with training and coaching, and inspire with your design knowledge and expertise.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will:
- Have proven experience in a top branding, design or creative business, ideally with experience working with large scale clients, packaging and FMCG.
- Be able to articulate and execute brand ideas across multiple touch points.
- Feel confident in both internal and external presentations and be comfortable dealing with senior clients and internal teams alike.
- Be both a team player and a fearless leader.
- Be passionate about great design and have a keen eye for detail.
- Be fluent in both Mandarin and English.
