Responsibilities

The Editorial Commissioning Specialist is responsible for attracting high-quality content to Frontiers journals through Research Topics (also known as special issues). The successful candidates will have the opportunity to work in a stimulating, fast-paced work environment with an innovative scholarly publisher. He or she will communicate with high-level researchers in China to engage them in editorial projects and support the development of their Research Topic proposals. The Specialist will work both independently and with a team, to support the development of Research Topics within our journals. Key responsibilities include presenting and promoting the Frontiers concept of Research Topics, and engaging researchers to host these as Guest Editors.

  • Reaching out to high-level researchers in China to present, and encourage them to engage in Research Topics with us;
  • Professional communication via email, phone and in person;
  • Forming, and maintaining, professional relationships with researchers and research institutes, to realize collaboration;
  • Reaching agreed upon, ambitious, targets for journal development;
  • Assisting researchers in developing strong proposals for their Research Topics;
  • Communicating with Chief Editors regarding the evaluation of proposals.

Reporting to Publishing Team Lead, China

Location

WeWork (Naga Shangyuan), 9 Dongzhimen Inner St, Dongcheng District, Beijing


Requirements

  • 1-2 years working experiences in the relevant subject areas with business development skills;
  • Master’s Degree or above in the following subject areas, PhD preferred: Basic Medicine or Biology, prefer cell biology or plant science;
  • Excellent communication in written and spoken English;
  • Highly motivated and target driven;
  • Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize varied workload under pressure;
  • Fast Learner
  • Quality and detail oriented;
  • Can identify and understand challenges and opportunities; comparing information from different sources to draw conclusions;
  • Commercial acumen and excellent negotiation skills;
  • IT Proficiency with MS Office and Google tools.
