Software Engineer, Infrastructure (Shanghai)

Responsibilities

• Build highly scalable infrastructure for recommendation systems, which includes crawler, ranking infrastructure, A/B testing framework, etc
• Improve system performance which includes latency and resource efficiency
• Identify productivity blockers for engineers and research scientists; Deliver improvements and new solutions to help them move fast
• Build infrastructure for large scale data (i.e. peta-byte) processing and ranking
• Communicate and discuss technical progress to cross functional team members on the team across SmartNews

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, or equivalent field
• Experience working in a fast-paced, start-up like environment

• 5+ years of industry experience in building scalable and fault-tolerance backend systems
• Solid software engineering and coding skills. Ability to write high performance production quality code in Java / C++ / Python / Scala
• Experience in resource management, performance optimization and building/operating toolings for application performance management (APM)
• General knowledge and experience of building large scale distributed system, familiar with various strategies to scale up (such as caching, etc) and resistance to failure
• Data-driven mindset and good analytical skills
• Experience and passion to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams such as design, product, data science, research partners, legal, and etc.
