We are looking for a Head of Mathematics for a bilingual school based in Shanghai. This is a full-time position starting from the upcoming academic year in August 2024.

A bilingual school, which was founded five years ago, is situated in Huangpu and Pudong district of Shanghai. It provides bilingual teaching to students from first grade to the 12th grade of elementary, middle and high school. The school follows the Chinese national curriculum and has elements from the British IGCSE and A levels curriculums to meet the academic needs of its students.
About the role
The Head of the Mathematics Department is responsible for leading and managing the Mathematics Department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality mathematics education to students. This role involves curriculum development, staff management, budgeting, and fostering an environment that encourages scientific inquiry and innovation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mathematics education, leadership experience, and a passion for fostering a love of mathematics among students.
- Provide strategic leadership for the Mathematics Department, aligning with educational goals
- Oversee mathematics curriculum development, ensuring adherence to standards and best practices
- Lead, manage, and mentor staff, focusing on professional development and a collaborative environment
- Manage the budget and laboratory resources efficiently
- Monitor student progress, implementing strategies for success
- Engage with the community to promote mathematics education and build partnerships
- Support research and innovative teaching practices, staying informed on educational trends
- Ensure compliance with regulations and contribute to accreditation and quality assurance
Requirements
- Bachelor degree or higher in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a related field
- Valid teaching certification/license
- Experience in teaching mathematics, with a proven track record of excellence
- Prior leadership or management experience in an educational setting is highly desirable

- Monthly Salary of 28,000 to 34,000 RMB before tax commensurate with experience and qualifications
