We're seeking a Music Education Coordinator and Head of Music (Secondary and Primary) for an international school in Shenzhen. The role is full-time, commencing in the upcoming academic year, August 2024.
About the school
The international school, situated in the Nanshan Zone, is spread over an area of 14,700 square meters and offers esteemed IGCSE and A Level international curriculum. It is set up to accommodate up to 900 students, featuring superior resources for Early Years to Sixth Form with boarding services. The campus offers a comprehensive approach to education, with sports and recreational grounds, library and common rooms, as well as cafeterias and lecture halls. This gives students the opportunity to move between different learning and activities areas, allowing them to learn, work together, and interact in a relaxed manner.
Job responsibilities
- Develop the music education curriculum and promote the school as a music education hub
- Stage musical performances and educational activities for student and faculty enrichment
- Enhance music education standards through masterclasses, camps, and collaborative events
- Implement a departmental development plan aligned with the school's strategic vision
- Lead the music department, providing support and managing staff effectively
- Evaluate teaching quality within the department and administer performance appraisals
- Communicate program details and successes to stakeholders including parents and board members
- Develop assessment strategies to monitor student progress in music education
- Ensure curriculum coverage and provide continuity and progression in music learning
- Foster high expectations and professional responsibility within the music department
- Build collaborative learning communities and lead extracurricular music activities
- Integrate and apply curriculum guidelines and objectives into music education planning
- Create a stimulating learning environment and cater to individual student development
- Use IT to enhance music learning and teaching, adapting to changes as needed
- Engage in ongoing professional development and uphold the school's child protection policy
Requirements
- Recognized degree in Music Education, with teacher training or QTS
- Experience with the Music Curriculum as per CDCHK or the English National Curriculum
- Proficiency in English and Mandarin for teaching
- Ongoing, relevant professional development
