Job Description

Control Risks is a specialist risk consultancy committed to helping our global clients build organisations that are secure, compliant, and resilient in an age of ever-changing risk and connectivity.

We have an opportunity available for an Illegal Trade Investigations Specialist to join our team in Shanghai, embedded within the global security team of a large international pharmaceutical company. Working on-site with our client, this role will be responsible for ensuring that all illegal trade cases in China are recorded in the Global Security case management database, that the Global Security Director of Investigations is aware of all illegal trade investigations activity, and that outward reporting of cases from China is produced in English. This supports our client's objective to provide a full global threat assessment to their products and patients to the business and other stakeholders.

This role is being recruited as an initial 12-month contract, with good potential for further extension.

Responsibilities will involve:

  • Support the China Investigations Associate Director and the Global Security Director of Investigations by:
  • Managing intake and triaging of all cases reported from within China to the Global Security Case Management platform and ensuring all reports are in English
  • Documenting progress of investigations in the Global Security Case Management platform in English and attaching all original evidence with explanations of each document in English
  • In close collaboration with Global Security Investigations Case Manager, ensure that any suspect samples collected as a result of investigations are documented and shipped appropriately to an authentication site
  • Translate results of authentication report into local language for use by internal and external stakeholders
  • Prepare briefing reports and insights in Mandarin and in English relating to illegal trade in China
  • Ensure that all highlights for illegal trade investigations in China are reported to Global Security Director of Investigations for inclusion in global Communications Plan
  • Engage internal stakeholders in China to report suspected illegal trade via the Global Security Case Management platform. Support reporting by translating into English if necessary
  • Maintain strong links and relationships with colleagues and other external stakeholders to ensure that best practice and Global Security standards are maintained within illegal trade investigations in China
  • Participate in monthly case management meetings with Global Security Director of Investigations.

Requirements

Essential:

  • Fluently bilingual in Mandarin and English (writing, reading and oral)
  • A relevant bachelor’s degree criminology, psychology, intelligence or life sciences with equivalent experience
  • Understanding of criminal and corporate investigations
  • Excellent communication, cultural awareness and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with colleagues at all levels
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to make sound, decisive and expedient decisions.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel amp; creating meaningful data graphs / slides)

Desirable:

  • Corporate pharmaceutical, life sciences or health care experience
  • Experience in influencing colleagues and working to dual reporting lines
  • Experience of case management and intelligence analysis
